Rotaract: Rotary in Action

Ashton Farrar (President Elect of USC Rotaract) and I had the great pleasure of attending the Big West Rotaract Institute in Santa Clara, CA, this July. BWRI was designed to grant presidents, president-elects, and district representatives the opportunity to share best practices, diagnose the strengths and weaknesses of our clubs, and clearly identify actionable steps we can take in order to attract, engage, and inspire Rotaractors to lead a life of service. I really enjoyed meeting passionate Rotaractors from all over the West coast, and was filled with gratitude to have the opportunity to learn from Jim Marggraff, Richard King, and Brad Howard. One of the highlights from this past weekend was hearing about Jim's work in the education and technology industries, and then having him surprise all of us with Google cardboards (simple VR device made of cardboard) to play around with at home!

Thank you, LA5, for believing that we can influence positive changes in our college and community, and for making this trip possible. We are so grateful for the learning opportunity and cannot wait to implement all that we have learned. If we do our jobs properly, you can expect to hear much more from us in the upcoming year!

I look forward to bringing more Rotaractors to luncheons, and getting to know you. As always, you are always welcome to attend any of our meetings. Our kickoff event for the upcoming year will be a panel discussion with District Attorney Jackie Lacey, and will take place at Ronald Tutor Campus Center at USC on August 29th, 2017 at 6pm. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or comments. I would absolutely love to hear from you!

Warm regards,
Eugenia Huang
President of USC Rotaract
