The Rotary Scholarship program is an acclaimed cornerstone of the club. Scholarship winners are exceptional students who often are the first in their families to attend college and come from households that earn less than $20,000 per year. Last year, LA5 received over 150 applications from some of the best and brightest minds in Southern California.
The club awarded about $159,000 in new scholarships, to 40 recipients -- amongst the most in the club’s 105-year history, with an additional $72,000 raised for future scholarships at a special luncheon. These leaders will attend Brown University, Princeton, MIT, Harvard, UCLA, U.C. Berkley, Stanford, Wellesley, and many other esteemed institutions.
The mission of the Beyond the Bell Branch is to ensure that all children and youth in LAUSD have access to high quality, safe, and supervised academic, enrichment, and recreation programs that inspire learning and achievement beyond the regular school day (before and after school and Saturdays).
