In 2013 Ernie Wooden Jr. took the helm of the Los Angeles Tourism and Convention Board, LA’s official tourism marketing organization. The area attracted 42 million annual visitors who spent $18 billion. Ernie set LATCB on a course to reach 50 million visitors who would spend $25 billion by 2020 - it looks like the goal will be reached in 2019! How is LATCB creating high demand for LA as a destination, and as an industry which also supports local jobs and generates hundreds of millions of tax revenues for the City? In January 2013, Ernest Wooden Jr. took the helm of Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board (L A Tourism), the city’s official tourism marketing organization, which works to market the Los Angeles region among the world’s most-visited and known travel destinations. 

As President & CEO Wooden works to optimize tourism’s contribution to the Los Angeles economy. This mission is fulfilled by marketing and promoting Los Angeles as the premier site for leisure travel, meetings and conventions to both domestic and international travel trade and consumers. He also oversees L A Tourism’s exclusive contract to market Los Angeles World Airports as well as the Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission.

Mr. Wooden’s career has been in the hospitality industry, including more than a decade in senior global brand management and operations leadership positions with Hilton Hotels Corporation, Sheraton Hotels and Resorts, Omni Hotels & Resorts, Doubletree by Hilton and Promus Hotel Corporation.  He also has worked internationally with hotel valuation, brand selection and investment analysis and as Chief Executive Officer of Creative Consulting, a company Wooden founded in 2010. 

Wooden contributes to the travel industry as a member of the U.S. Travel and Tourism Advisory Board (TTAB); Board of Directors for the Pacific Council on International Policy; the California Travel and Tourism Commission (Visit California); and on the board and Executive Committee of the U.S. Travel Association (USTA).  He is also dedicated to civic and community affairs, sitting on the Boards of the Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission; Sister Cities of Los Angeles; the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce; the Executive Committee of the Central City Association of Los Angeles; and the Thomas Edison State University MBA Advisory Board.
